AMC INSTITUTE LAUNCHES "MANAGING NOT-FOR-PROFITS,"
A GUIDE FOR LEADERS OF NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

Premiere Issue Examines Redesigned IRS Form 990

PHILADELPHIA (August 12, 2008) — AMC Institute, the trade association that represents the association management company (AMC) industry, today announced the launch of a new publication developed to provide information and guidance to leaders of not-for-profit organizations. Managing Not-for-Profits will address timely topics from board development and meetings trends, to liability concerns and financial management controls, to help keep association leaders in the know and ahead of the curve.

The premiere issue of Managing Not-for-Profits, entitled "Redesigned IRS Form 990: What Tax-Exempt Organizations Need to Know," comes in response to historic changes made to the annual return Form 990. This is the first time the form has been overhauled since 1979, in an effort to promote increased accountability. AMC Institute reviews the greater reporting requirement for tax-exempt organizations, and recommends best practices in preparation for completing and filing the annual return.

"Our industry provides management services to not-for-profits and associations," said John Francis, president of the board of directors of AMC Institute. "There are many subjects and issues that are critical to the not-for-profit arena, the redesigned Form 990 among them, and our clients look to us for guidance. We developed this publication series to share new information, offer best practices, and provide answers to questions facing today's not-for-profit leaders."

Francis added that AMC Institute will publish Managing Not-for-Profits periodically and that the organization already has several subjects in line for upcoming issues.

"We'd also love to take suggestions from not-for-profit leaders. Whether you are a volunteer board member or an executive director, if there is a subject or issue where you need guidance, log on to the AMC Institute Web site and let us know."

To access the first issue of Managing Not-for-Profits, go to www.AMCInstitute.org. Individuals can also sign up to receive future issues of the publication on the AMC Institute Web site.
